'Breakaway' Couplings

'Breakaway' couplings are essential with work place safety and enviromental considerations more important than ever. Intrico 'Breakaway' couplings provide a proven solution when a dry break is required.

'Breakaway' Couplings provide the following:-

• Flow through the Breakaway is 100% (or more) of the line volumne
• 1-1/2" to 8" line size
• Marine or Industrial versions
• Upto 25 Bar working pressure.
• Aluminium and Stainless Steel bodies, depending on size.
• Viton seals as standard with other seals as options
• Bspp or Npt in 1-1/2" to 4".
• ASA or DIN flange connections in 6" and 8"
• High flow rates with low pressure drops
• Pressure testing and fully traceable certification available.
• Spares bolts and seals for maintenance

'Breakaway' couplings are designed for installations where, due to accidental circumstances, hoses or pipe work systems can be subject to tensile loads, leading to failure. The insertion of a 'Breakaway' coupling can prevent pollution, fire or chemical hazards, product loss or damage to plant and equipment.
Typical 'Breakaway' installations would include road or rail tanker loading and unloading installations, ship to shore hose and aircraft refuelling.
Fitted with a valve in each half, the 'Breakaway' coupling is designed to 'Breakaway' in two when subject to tensile loads. The valves close automatically, requiring no outside operation, sealing the pipe work or tank and the hose.

Cable release versions are also available.

• Preferred termination type
• Medium, pressure, temperature and flow rate
• Marine version installed between two hoses or the
  Industrial version where one side of the unit is attached to solid pipework.
• Any other requirements or application details ie
  nature of the tensile load (sudden or gradual), direction of load, type of hose etc.
